Abstract:
The south kuril islands are located in the southern part of the Kuril islands from 43。21′38″N to 45。33′25″N and from 145。23′55″E to 148。53′37″E. It is consisted of the Iturup,Kunashir,Shikotan and the Habomai islands. The south kuril islands are dispute islands between Russia and Japan, although they are occupied by Russia since 1945. The biggest island is Iturup Island with area of 3163.76km2, the other three are: 1489.91km2 of Kunashir Island, 245.08km2 of Shikotan Island, and 93.24km2 of Habomai Islands. The dataset is developed based on the google earth images and references maps, it is archived in .kmz .shp formats with the data size of 1.92MB.
