Abstract:

In order to understand how the C, N, P works in forests of Loess Plateau in Yanan region, Shanxi Province of China, 9 samples from the 3 different plantation including the Robinia pseudoacacia, Populus simonii, and Pinus tabuliformis and 18 samples from 3 different natural secondary forests, including Quercus wutaishanica, Quercus acutissima, and Betula platyphylla were selected. The sample plot size is 20 m x 20m, the three 1m x 1m litter sample squares were randomly set in each sample plot. The sample collection was carried out in August 2012. According to the average DBH diameter of the trees, 5 standard wood leaf samples were collected (sorted in the east, west, south and north), and all the leaf samples were taken from the mature leaf of the current year. While collecting litter in each sample plot, drill a soil core of 100 cm deep (sampled by 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-50, 50-100 cm). The leaf, litter and different depth soil samples in each plot were mixed into one sample, and each sample was collected about 300g and taken back to the laboratory for use. Plant leaf and litter samples were dried to constant weight at 85 ℃, ground with a pulverizer, and the soil samples were naturally air-dried and ground. All the samples were passed through a 0.25 mm sieve and placed in plastic bags for use. Plant, soil samples C concentrations were determined by using K2Cr2O7-H2SO4 wet oxidation method, N concentrations were measured using the Kjeldahl methodusing H2SO4 and HClO4 for digestion, and P concentrations were measured using the same digestion solution for N followed by molybdenum-antimony anti-mix reagent colorimetric analysis. The dataset is consist of the five data tables: (1) Geolocation data of sample sites; (2) C, N and P concentration and stoichiometric ratio of leaf in different forest types; (3) C, N and P concentration and stoichiometric ratio of litter in different forest types; (4) C, N and P concentration and stoichiometric ratio in different soil layers of plantation and (5) C, N and P concentration and stoichiometric ratio in different soil layers of natural secondary forest. The dataset is archived in .xlsx, .shp and .kmz data formats in 8 data files with data size of 37.8 KB (Compressed to 2 files with data size of 33.4 KB). The analysis paper based on this dataset was published at Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 38, No. 14, 2018.
