Yang County, the home to Crested Ibis, is located in the Hanjiang River region, it is the only wild population habitat and artificial breeding provenance of the world's rare bird, Nipponianippon. Caoba village is located in Zhifang Street (Township) in the northern of Yang County. It lies in the core of the Crested Ibis protection area. Caoba Village is also the first station where the Crested Ibis settled from a high-altitude to a low-altitude area with the first grade of its ambient air quality standard all the year round and the class I-II of its water quality standard of farmland irrigation. Black Rice has been planted in the case area more than 3,000 years ago, and the Black Rice varieties are Qindao-2 and Qindao-1 currently. The application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is strictly prohibited during the planting process, and artificial weeding and physical pest control has been put into use.
