Abstract:

Risk Assessment Dataset for Arctic Navigation of Arc4 Ice-class Vessels (2014-2023) was developed based on the sea ice data from 2014 to 2023 and the Polar Operational Limit Assessment Risk Indexing System (POLARIS). The dataset shows the dynamic changes and distribution of risk areas for Arc4 ice-class vessels in Arctic waters over the past decade. The dataset includes RIO values and land cover types for Arc4 ice-class vessels, recorded at seven-day intervals from 2014 to 2023. RIO values typically range between -30 and 30, with -100 indicating impassable conditions. Land cover is categorized into five types: land (L), ice (I), water (W), ice shelf/land ice (S), and no data (N). The dataset is archived in .shp format, and consists of 2,554 data files with data size of 5.42 GB (Compressed into three files with 3.70 GB). The finding article from the dataset have been published at Journal of Marine Science and Engineering, Volume 12, Issue 12, 2024.
