Abstract:

The sample sites were selected in the Maoer Mountain, Heilongjiang Province of temperature regions of China and Heshan Mountain, Guangdong Province, sub-tropical region of China. The experiment was taken from April 2007 to November 2009 in Larix gmelinii, Picea koraiensis, Phellodendron amurense and Juglans mandshurica on the Maoer Mountain; Cunninghamia lanceolate, Pinus massoniana, Schima wallichi and Eucalyptus citriodora on the Heshan Mountain. The litterbag method was utilized to study litter decomposition. The litterbag is nylon with the mesh of 0.1 mm. The absorptive roots were buried in the soil at the depth of 5 cm. The leaf litter was buried in the litter layer and soil at the depth of 5 cm. The absorption roots refer to the first order roots and fine root branches composed of the first three order roots. The decomposition rate and N remaining (%) of leaf litter and absorptive roots during 0-747 days were obtained to develop the dataset of N remaining after decomposition of leaf litter and absorptive roots in eight temperate and subtropical tree species of China. The dataset includes: (1) Geo-location of sample plots; (2) Data of N remaining after decomposition of leaf litter and absorptive roots in eight tree species. The dataset is archived in .kmz, .shp and .xlsx formats, it is consisted of 8 data files with data size of 61.0 KB (compressed to one data file with data size of 15.0 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 38, No. 7, 2018.
