Abstract:
The Huitong National Research Station of Forest Ecosystem in Huitong county, Hunan province was selected as the study area. There were 21 sample plots and 704 samples of plant and soil collected in July 2014. The carbon density and allocation of each composition (tree, understory vegetation, litter, soil) of nine forest ecosystems including eight plantations with age ranging from 25 to 32 years (Cunninghamia lanceolata, Pinus massoniana, Pinus elliottii, Cunninghamia lanceolata and Cinnamomum camphora, Cunninghamia lanceolata and Michelia macclurei, Pinus massoniana and Schima superba, Schima superba, Michelia macclurei) and one natural forest with average age of 63 years (Castanopsis fargesii, Cyclobalanopsis glauca and Machilus pauhoi) were analyzed and compared. Organic carbon content of all samples was analyzed by the oil-bath K2Cr2O7 titration method. The result shows that average density of ecosystem carbon at Moshao forest farm was 261.61 t/hm² the majority of carbon density of Moshao forest farm was stored in the tree layer and soil layer, accounting for 98.23% of the total carbon density of the forest ecosystems. This dataset includes (1) the forest types of Moshao forest farm (.shp); (2) Carbon density and allocation in trees, shrubs, herbs, litters and soil layers of main forest types (.xlsx). The dataset is archived to 8 data files with data size of 137 KB (77.5 KB in one .rar file). The analysis paper based on this dataset was published in Journal of Natural Resources in No.11, Vol.31, 2016.
