Abstract：
After the Wenchuan magnitude 8.0 Earthquake occurred on May 12, 2008, aftershocks are very frequent. How to quickly and accurately identify aftershocks is critical for earthquake monitoring and early warning. Based on the aftershock waveforms recorded by 16 broadband seismic stations around the Longmenshan fault zone in Wenchuan and its neighboring areas (30°N-33.5°N, 102°E-106°E) from July to September 2008, the Wenchuan earthquake (2008.5.12) aftershock classification dataset was developed, where 9,909 event waveform segments from 1,765 aftershock events (1.0-6.6 level) were manually selected as positive samples, and 10,939 noise waveforms were randomly intercepted from the remaining continuous waveforms as negative samples. The dataset includes, (1) Positive samples; (2) signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of positive samples (SNR_positive.txt); (3) Negative samples; (4) the SNR of negative samples (SNR_negative.txt); (5) stations around Wenchuan (Sta_Wenchuan.data); (6) location results of aftershock events (Epicenter_Wenchuan.dat). The dataset is archived in .dat, .data, .txt, and .SLIST formats, with a data size of 3.14 GB (compressed to five data files with data size of 1.20 GB). The analysis paper related to this dataset has been published in Chinese Journal of Geophysics, Vol. 62, No. 1, 2019, and the related algorithms have been open sourced to https://github.com/mingzhaochina/ ConvNetQuake.
