Abstract：

Based on the Daily Value Dataset of Surface Climate Data in China (V3.0) data, the authors analyzed the temperature data from 273 national meteorological stations in China from 1960 to 2016, especially the daily data with a maximum temperature reaching 35�C or higher were classified as high temperature days, while a heatwave event was defined as a period lasting three days or more with such elevated temperatures, and calculated the characteristics of an urban heat wave with high temperatures. the social vulnerability assessment system for urban high temperatures was established, including 18 indicators categorized into exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity indices. Weights were assigned to each of these indicators, and vulnerability assessments were conducted. Then the urban extreme heat characteristics and social vulnerability assessment dataset of China (1960-2016) was developed. The dataset includes: (1) high temperature statistics of cities in China, encompassing indicators such as high temperature days, high temperature intensity, heat wave frequency, heat wave duration, and heat wave intensity; (2) high temperature social vulnerability assessment data of Chinese cities. The dataset is archived in .xlsx format, and consists of one file with data size of 132 KB. The research paper based on this dataset was published in Geographical Research, Vol. 39, No. 7, 2020.
