Abstract:
The Azores is located in the middle east of the North Atlantic Ocean, 1424 km away from the European continent. It belongs to the Azores autonomous region of Portugal. Its geo-location is between 36°55′41″N and 39°43′37″N, 24°46′48″W and 31°16′32″W. The Azores consists of 136 islands, including Sao Miguel Island, Pico Island, Terceira Island, Sao Jorge Island, Faial Island, Flores Island, Santa Maria Island, Graciosa Island, Corvo Island, etc. The smallest island has an area of 70 m², and the largest island is Sao Miguel Island with an area of 744.51 km². The total area of the Azores is 2321.50 km², and the length of the coastline is 908.61 km. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 8.20 MB (Compressed into 2 files with 3.38 MB).
