Abstract:

Miyun Reservoir is the largest reservoir in Beijing, China. It is located between 40°26′17″N and 40°36′20″N, 116°49′11″E and 117°1′14″E, in Miyun District, and it is also the largest artificial lake in Asia, known as the "Pearl of Yanshan". The reservoir was built in September 1958 and was completed in September 1960, which extends northeast to southwest. The main rivers flowing into the reservoir are Baihe River and Chaohe River. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth images in December 2015 and November 2017 and several relevant maps. In November 2017, there are 76 islands in the reservoir, 35 more than in December 2015; the water area was 118.92 km², 50.31 km² more than in December 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 50 files with data size of 12.6 MB (compressed into 3 files with 4.38 MB).
