Abstract:
The Hainan Island, located in the South China Sea and geographically from 18°09’34"N - 20°09’43"N and 108°36’46"E - 111°16’25"E, is separated from Leizhou Peninsula to the north by the Qiongzhou Strait. Hainan Island is the second largest island in China. Mountains cover most area of the island; the summit of the island is the peak of the Wuzhi Mountain, located in the mid-south, which is 1,867m above sea level. The Hainan Island is located in the tropical region, the average monthly temperatures are above 22℃, and even the lowest average monthly temperatures are higher than 16℃ in January. The average annual precipitation is about 1500 to 1800 mm, the rainfall can be as high as 2000-2500 mm in central and eastern parts even. The Hainan Island boundary data is developed based on 2015 Google Earth Imagery, total area of the island is 34,012.58 km2 and the coast line is 2447.54 km long.The dataset is archived in both .kmz and .shp formats.
