Abstract:
The Strait of Malacca, located between Malay Peninsula and Sumatra, is a passage connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Annual average sea surface temperature dataset of the Malacca Strait (1990-2017) was developed based on global monthly average sea surface temperature products (AVHRR_OI-NCEI-L4-GLOB-v2.0). Firstly, the global annual average sea surface temperature was calculated, and then, clipped it to get the annual average sea surface temperature data products of the Malacca Strait. The data result shows that the annual average sea surface temperature of Malacca Strait fluctuated at 29.5℃. The annual average sea surface temperature in 1994 was the lowest, at 28.95℃; while the annual average sea surface temperature in 2010 was the highest, reaching 29.83℃, with a difference of 0.88℃. The data spatial resolution is 0.087003°. The dataset is consisted of 28 data files in .tif data format with data size of 1.79 MB (Compressed to one single file with data size of 42.2 KB).
