Abstract:

Water transparency is a widely used indicator for evaluation of lake Eutrophication. Water transparency in seven lakes and reservoirs of mid-west of Jilin Province of China was measured with a Secchi disk during 15-26th, September 2012. They are the Shitoukoumen Reservoir, Xinlicheng Reservoir, Erlong Lake, Chagan Lake, Yueliang Lake, Dakuli Lake and Talahong Lake. The in situ data was collected from 74 sampling points whose coordinates were recorded by GPS. Remote sensing band values of each sampling point were extracted from MODIS daily surface reflectance (MOD09GA) and HJ-1A CCD remotely sensed images archived on corresponding dates. Inversion models of water transparency were built specifically for HJ-1A CCD and MODIS images by gray relative analysis and multivariate regression analysis. Accuracy of the models was evaluated. For models established by HJ-1A CCD and MODIS, R2 were 0.639 and 0.849, and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) were 0.248 and 0.135, respectively. The two models could generate consistent inversion of water transparency. The dataset is consisted of: (1) in situ data from water transparency of 74 sampling plots in 7 lakes and reservoirs in mid-west of Jilin Province, and (2) images of water transparency inverted from HJ-CCD and MODIS. The dataset is archived in .xlsx, .shp, .kmz and ENVI Standard files data formats. There are sixteen files with data size of 68.4 MB, which were compressed to two files with data size of 1.27 MB. The analysist paper based on this dataset has been published at the Journal of Lake Sciences, Vol. 28, NO. 3, 2016.
