Abstract:

Thousand Islands in Norway, a group of small islands in the Arctic Ocean, is located between the Barents Sea and the Greenland Sea; it is part of the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway. Its geolocation is between 76°52′08″N and 77°17′29″N,21°16′17″E and 22°56′32″E. The Thousand Islands consists of 7 Islands, including Schare Islands, Ten Islands, Menke Islands, Meinicke Islands, King Ludwig Islands, Kulstad Islets and Brakmo Islands. The Thousand Islands is consisted of 101 small islands (the smallest island is 71 m²). There are four larger islands, the area of each of them is larger than 1 km². They are the Bolsche Island, Havella Islet, Lur Island and Aekongen Islet. The total area of the Thousand Islands is 12.89 km² the coastline is 131.23 km long. The biggest island in the Thousand Islands is the Bolsche Island with an area of 1.52 km². The dataset is developed based on the Google Earth images and the referenced maps. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data format with the compressed data size of 599 KB.
