Abstract:

In 2014, two sample sites were selected in a transitional planted poplar forest and fixed dunes with Caragana microphylla communities in the dune-meadow alternating region of Horqin Sandy Land of China. The soil respiration, without litter (Rs (NL)) and with litter (Rs (L)), and soil temperature (Ts) were observed using the LI-6400 soil-respiration supporting system. The soil moisture (Ms) was measured using a portable soil moisture measurement instrument. Then the soil respiration dataset in two vegetation types and their influencing factors in Horqin sandy land of China were developed. The data result indicated that Rs (L) was greater than Rs (NL) in the Caragana microphylla communities, but Rs (L) was less than Rs (NL) in the planted poplar forest. The dataset includes: (1) Geo-location of the sample sites; (2) Dynamic change of soil temperature, soil moisture and soil respiration rate in planted poplar forest with removed and reserved litter from May to October, 2014; (3) Dynamic changes of soil temperature, soil moisture and soil respiration rate in Caragana microphylla with removed and reserved litter from May to September, 2014; (4) Dynamic changes of soil temperature and soil respiration rate in planted poplar forest with removed and reserved litter on August 20, 2014 and October 2, 2014. The dataset is consist of 8 data files and archived in .shp, .kmz and .xlsx data formats with data size of 18.5 KB (compressed to 2 data files with data size of 15.8 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at the Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 37, No. 6, 2017.
