Abstract:

Yuanjiang River is one of the most important water sources of Dongting Lake. The heavy metal pollution from Yuanjiang River is one of the top environmental issues of Dongting Lake. Three sample sites at Niubitan (YN), Yuanjiang Bridge (YJ) and Yanwanghu (YW) were selected and sampled using the ZYA-70 sediment sampler at the estuary of Yuanjiang River in January, 2015. The length of sediment column samples was 263 cm, 286 cm and 276 cm, respectively. The samples of the sediment column were separated at a pitch of 4 cm and numbered sequentially. The samples labeled in odd numbers were analyzed to obtain the contents of 16 heavy metals using the Plasma Mass Spectrometer (Perkin-Elmer Elan 6000) in the state key laboratory of isotope geochemistry, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The dataset of heavy metal contents of Yuanjiang River includes: 1) the geolocation data of three sample sites at Niubitan (YN), Yuanjiang Bridge (YJ) and Yanwanghu (YW); 2) Vertical distribution data of heavy metals and relative standard deviation. The 16 heavy metals include: Sc, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ba, Pb, Th, U, Mo, Cd, Tl, and Bi. The dataset is archived as .kmz, .shp, and .xlsx data format, with the compressed data size of 33.5KB. The analysis paper of the dataset has been published in the journal of Geographical Research, No.10, Vol.35, 2016.
