Abstract:

The dataset of “Assesment on temperature simulated by the IPCC AR5 GCMs in China, 1996-2005” (ATempIPCC_AR5_GCMs_China_1996-2005) was developed on the precision of the temperature simulated by nine IPCC AR5 (the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) GCMs (Global Climate Models including: BCC, BNU, CanESM2, CCSM4, GISS-E2-R, IPSL-CM5A-LR, MPI-ESM-LR, MRI-CGCM3, NorESM1-M) and the multi-model ensemble (MME), based on the observed temperature of 660 stations in China from 1996 to 2005. The datasets were generated according to the following procedure: (1) The simulated temperature data in China were extracted from the GCMs datasets ; (2) The bilinear interpolation method was used to calculate the GCMs simulated temperature values in the 660 meteorological stations ; (3) The MME’s temperature data were calculated, which were the average of simulated temperature values by GCMs in the same station; (4) The accuracy of the simulated temperature values from nine IPCC AR5 GCMs and MME was calculated using 5 indexes comparing with the observed temperature data in the meteorological stations. The 5 indexes were correlation coefficient (R2), deviation (Bias), mean absolute error (MAE), mean relative error (MRE) and root mean square error (RMSE). The discovery paper based on the dataset was published in the journal of Progress in Geography in 2015 (No. 10, Vol. 34, 2015). The dataset is in .xlsx format and the total size is 543KB.
