Abstract:

The dataset of spatiotemporal pattern of fruit output increase and the contribution factors in China (1978 – 2016) was developed by data integration of "China Rural Statistical Yearbook" from 1985 to 2017 and "New China's Agricultural 60-Year Statistics" and the Logarithmic Mean Weigh Division Index Method (LMDI) model. The data of output, planting area, and yield of China’s fruits and major fruit crops (including apples, citrus, pears, grapes, and bananas) were obtained from 1978 to 2016 from the statistics year books, and then LMDI decomposition method was used to analyze the main contribution factors of China’s fruit output increase. The results show that the continuous increase of Chinese fruit output at the national level mainly was due to the continuous increase of the five major fruit crops, and apple contributed the most. The increase in apple output is dominant in yield, whereas the increase in citrus, pear, grape, and banana output are dominant in planting area. The dataset includes the data from 1978 to 2016 as following: (1) output and planting area of fruit crops and five major fruit crops in China; (2) planting area contribution rate and yield contribution rate of the fruit output increase; (3) the fruit output increase and contribution rate in each province; (4) planting area contribution rate and yield contribution rate of the fruit output increase in each province. The dataset is archived in one excel file (.xlsx) with data size of 27.7 KB. The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at Journal of Arid Land Resources and Environment, Vol.33, No.10, 2019.
