Abstract：
The Dongcaoalong Lake is a fresh water lake in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. It is located at the northern bank of the Yellow River in Maduo County, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China. The lake is connected with the Yellow River. It is a yoke lake formed by the swinging Yellow River bed. The geo-location of the lake is from 34°28′55″E to 34°31′2″E and 98°42′40″N to 98°45′56″N. The south side of Dongcaoalong Lake is the natural embankment and flood plain formed by the Yellow River. There are mountains on the east, west and north sides of the Lake. The water surface area of the Lake in 2015 is 10.17 km², the length of the lake shoreline is 33.37 km. There are two islands in the lake: the big one with an area of 2.04 km², shoreline of 8.01 km; the other one with an area of 11301.92 m², shoreline of 422.53 m. It is alpine semi-arid climate with annual average temperature of -4~-2℃ and annual precipitation of 500mm. There is no surface runoff flows directly into the lake. The water in the lake mainly depends on the precipitation and the Yellow River in the rainfall season. The dataset is developed based on Google Earth images and referenced maps. The dataset is consisted of 22 data files, archived in both .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 530 KB (compressed to 193 KB in two files).
