Abstract:

Panyu is one district of Guangzhou City, China. The Land use and the spatial distances dataset of Panyu District, Guangzhou City of China (1999, 2008) was the input data for parameter sensitivity study of the Cellular Automata (CA) model of urban expansion. The land use data was developed based on the LANDSAT images in 1999 and 2008. Seven categories of land use in Panyu District were identified, they were: artificial surface, farmland, forest land, pond, water, garden and undeveloped. The distances of metro stations, metro lines, roads, district centers and town centers were calculated using ArcGIS software. The dataset includes: (1) boundary data of the study area (.shp); (2) land use data (1999, 2008) (.img, 50 m x 50 m); (3) proximity variables, such as distance from the district center, distance from the subway lines, distance from the subway stations, distance from the roads and distance from town centers (.img, 50 m x 50 m). The dataset is archived in .shp and .img data formats, consists of 31 data files with data size of 12.0 MB (Compressed to one single file with data size of 1.81 MB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at Journal of Remote Sensing, Vol. 22, No. 6, 2018.
