Abstract：

The Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway is the railway between Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, and Djibouti, capital of Djibouti. Based on the Google Earth Engine cloud platform, using the time series of Landsat-8 normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) dataset, we combined the maximum composite method (MVC) and Dimidiate Pixel Model to produce the annual maximum FVC dataset in 30m resolution within 10 km buffer area along the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway in 2017. The study area of the dataset is 8°27′33″N ~ 11°37′32″N, 38°30′52″E ~ 43°10′22″E. The data value ranges between 0 and 1, in which, 0 means no vegetation coverage and 1 means full of vegetation. The dataset shows that the FVC is mainly in the range of 0~0.2 (very few vegetation), accounting for 35.08% of the total area; the FVC ranging of 0.4~0.6 accounts for 29.74% of the total area; the FVC more than 0.6 accounts for 10.39% of the total area. The dataset is archived in .tif data format at 30 m resolution with data size of 793 MB in three files (Compressed to one single file with data size of 69.2 MB). The report based on the dataset was published at the “Global ecosystems and environment observation analysis research cooperation: regional ecosystem trends along the Belt and Road, 2018”.
