Abstract:

Trinidad and Tobago has a 500-year legacy in cocoa production, which ranks the third producers of the world, it has the International Cocoa Gene Bank. The Cocoa Research Center has been in existence for 95 years. The University of the West Indies, which is a regional university, supports 15 countries in the Caribbean Region. The engagement of OCOP Initiative in Cocoa Research Center of the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago include master cases and technology incubation to support the emergence of value-add SMEs; business incubation to improve business management; apprenticeship training to support farm skill development; train-the trainer program to support technology transfer to improve productivities and sustainability and digital products, e-learning platform, famer interaction support app, digital traceability system, e-market place and famer-scientist cooperation.
