Abstract:

Fusong County, Jilin Province, known as China’s famous hometown of ginseng, is located in the hinterland of Changbai Mountains and the upper reaches of the Songhua River, adjacent to Tianchi Lake of Changbai Mountains. It features well-developed Cenozoic basaltic volcanic landforms. The case area covers 3 towns including Songjianghe Town, Quanyang Town and Donggang Town of Fusong Couty. The ginseng cultivation area was about 720 ha in 2025. Through field sampling and laboratory analysis, this study systematically examined the quality indicators of ginseng and the relevant geographical environmental factors in the case area. Soil indicators showed that the total nitrogen content in the study area ranged from 1.1 to 3.83 mg/kg, the alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen from 147.9 to 454.7 mg/kg, the available phosphorus from 5.59 to 22 mg/kg, and the available potassium from 105.35 to 211.68 mg/kg; the heavy metal and pesticide residues in soil were all below the limits specified in National Soil Environmental Quality Risk Control Standard (GB 15618—2018). Water quality indicators indicated that the pH value of irrigation water in the production area ranged from 6.34 to 7.72, suspended solids from 3 to 8 mg/L, and indicators such as heavy metals and fluorides all complied with the National Standards for Irrigation Water Quality (GB 5084—2021). The detection results of ginseng quality indicators were as follows: total saponins content ranged from 2.78% to 3.76%, monomeric saponins Re+Rg1 from 0.38% to 0.65% (far exceeding the lower limit of 0.30% specified in the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia), and monomeric saponin Rb1 from 0.41% to 0.8% (far exceeding the lower limit of 0.20% specified in the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia); pesticide residues (such as BHC and DDT) were all far below the limits specified in GB 19506—2009. The dataset of this case includes the boundary data of the case area, physical ecosystem and environment data, social and economic development data of the case area, product characteristic data of the case area, operation and management data, Fusong ginseng culture data, etc. The dataset is archived in .shp, .tif, .xlsx, .docx, .jpg and .txt formats, and consists of 108 data files with data size of 45.2 MB (compressed into one file with 19.7 MB).
