Abstract:
The dataset of Compound Dry-Hot Event Indicators for Northwest China Based on Daily SPEI was developed by calculating the daily Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) and combining daily maximum temperature thresholds derived via a moving window calculation to identify compound dry-hot events, defined as concurrent drought and high-temperature occurrences persisting for three or more consecutive days. The dataset contains information of compound dry-hot events from May to October during 1962-2020 at 265 national meteorological observation stations, including the start and end dates, duration of each event, as well as the intensity of high-temperature episodes, drought episodes and integrated compound dry-hot events throughout the event period. The dataset is archived in .txt data format, and consists of 265 data files with data size of 301 KB (compressed into one file with 318 KB).
