Abstract:
Lushuihe Town is located in Fusong County, Jilin Province, within the center of the Changbai Mountains and the mid-temperate humid monsoon zone. It is the core producing area of Korean Pine seeds, which are sourced from the local natural Korean pine forests. Currently, there are over one million fruit-bearing Korean pine trees with a diameter at breast height of 30 cm or more, preserving the only remaining Korean pine seed forest in China and the largest in Asia, covering 12,000 ha. These forests are mainly distributed in the Hongguang Forest Farm in central Lushuihe Town and the Dongsheng Forest Farm in the southern part of the town. Soil survey results from the case study area show that the soil is acidic to slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.0-6.8. The soil is rich in minerals and trace elements, with organic matter content ranging from 5.29 to 89.3 g/kg, total nitrogen from 0.047% to 0.498%, available phosphorus from 0.1 to 26.8 mg/kg, and available potassium from 65 to 500 mg/kg. The growth of the Korean pine trees primarily relies on natural precipitation, and tests of 15 water quality indicators in the case study area all met the national standards (GB 5084—2025). Lushuihe Korean pine seeds are known for their plump kernels and high nutritional value. They contain 65.4% crude fat and 16.7g/100g of protein. They are rich in 16 amino acids, Vitamin E, B vitamins, and various macro and trace elements, giving them both dietary and health-beneficial properties. In 2024, Fusong County had a resident population of 202,300 and a Gross Regional Product of 14.477 billion CNY. This sound economic foundation provides momentum for the sustainable development of the distinctive Lushuihe Korean pine seeds industry. The case dataset includes: (1) boundary of the case area; (2) physical geography data; (3) product characteristic data of Lushuihe Korean pine seeds; (4) population, socio-economic, and management data; (5) photos. The dataset is archived in .shp, .tif, .xlsx, .docx, and .jpg formats, and consists of 82 data files with data size of 264 MB (compressed into one file with 77.3 MB).
