Abstract:
The dataset of soil particle size distribution in the Tarim River Basin Oasis (2023) was developed based on soil survey in the oasis region of the Tarim River Basin from July to August 2023. 579 soil samples (0-25 cm depth) were collected and analyzed at the Public Technology Service Center in Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. According to the international soil texture classification system, particles were categorized into four size classes: clay (0-2 μm), silt (2-20 μm), fine sand (20-200 μm), and coarse sand (200-2000 μm). This dataset includes: (1) geolocations of all sampling sites; (2) proportional content of each particle size fraction. The dataset is archived in .shp and .xls formats, and consists of 8 files with data size of 333 KB (compressed into one file with 58.4 KB). The dataset can provide fundamental support for studies on soil texture, hydrological properties, and erosion modeling in the Tarim Basin oasis ecosystems.
