Abstract:
The name "Dangshen" derives from "Shangdang Renshen", and Dangshen from Shanxi is specifically known as Lu Dangshen (Codonopsis pilosula). Pingshun is renowned for producing high-quality Lu Dangshen, with a long-standing tradition and rich cultural heritage. Situated at the southern Taihang Mountains, on the edge of the Shangdang Basin, Pingshun County features mid-mountainous terrain. Its warm, semi-humid monsoon climate delivers distinct seasons where summer rains coincide with warm temperatures. There is a significant day-night temperature difference, along with abundant sunshine. The local cinnamon soil is loose, well-drained, and rich in organic matter. Pingshun Lu Dangshen is distinguished by its thick roots, yellow skin, reddish flesh, vivid color, dense texture, and pure flavor, manifesting a unique morphology described as "lion's head, phoenix tail, chrysanthemum core." Laboratory testing confirms that soil, water, and Lu Dangshen samples all tested well below national established safety limits. Lu Dangshen is rich in beneficial bioactive components including polysaccharides, syringin, lobetyolin, and atractylenolide III. It delivers significant health benefits such as boosting energy, strengthening spleen and lung function, nourishing Qi and blood, and enhancing immunity. The Lu Dangshen-centered traditional Chinese medicine industry has become Pingshun's pillar industry, driving high-quality agricultural development in the county. The video, including Chinese version (5:55 minutes) and English version (6:12 minutes), is archived in .mp4 format, and consists of 2 data files with data size of 475 MB.
