Abstract:

The FY-3 VIRR Global 10-day Composite 1 km Dataset (2009-2022) was generated from daily FY-3A VIRR and FY-3C VIRR L1B 1 km granule data and this dataset is covering the Earth terrestrial area for the period of January 2009 to December 2022. The key steps for the data processing included the radiance calibration, the geometric correction, the tiling of 10 by 10 degree with the consideration of optimal data selection for overlapping area within the same day based on the observing angle and solar angle, the mask of sea and land, the 10 day composite based on the maximum value of NDVI as well as the mosaic of global coverage. The dataset includes: (1) 10-day data during 2009-2013 based on FY-3A; (2) 10-day data during 2014-2022 based on FY-3C. The dataset is archived in common ENVI file (.img, .hdr), and consists of 1008 data files with data size of 8 TB (Compressed into 504 files with 0.98 TB).
