Abstract：

The Settlement Dataset in Zhangjiuhe Basin, Yunnan Province, during the Last 300 Years was developed based on the information mining from the chorographical records, including the Chorographical Records of Luquan Yi-Miao Peoples Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, Chorographical Records of Luquan Region, Chorographical Records of Luquan County, historical documentation on Historical Agriculture Records, as well as in-situ investigations. The dataset is consisted of 784 settlements with the information of geo-location, settlements’ IDs, year founded, name of the settlements and towns, elevation, slope and culture regarding the name of the settlement. In addition, seven photos on in-situ survey are included in the dataset. The dataset product shows that the settlements increase in the Zhangjiuhe Basin during the last 300 years can be identified in three stages, one is the slow growth stage (1701 to 1800), and then fast growth stage (1801 to1950) and following another slow growth stage (1951 to 2000). Spatial study shows the valleys at middle and lower reaches of the river has the greatest density of settlements, which expanded from the middle and lower reaches to middle and upper reaches, and vice versa, as well as from the valley areas to the remote mountainous areas at both sides. The dataset is archived in .shp, .jpg and .kmz data formats with the compressed data size of 13.4MB.
