北半球9个历史时期蝗灾分布100-km栅格数据集

摘要

蝗灾是由蝗虫大面积发生及迁移造成的自然灾害。蝗灾发生可以跨国、跨洲,因此了解蝗灾发生的大尺度时空特征是全球蝗灾防治的基础工作之一。本研究搜集整理了国际英文期刊文章、专著和《中国三千年气象记录总集》中的历史文献记录,提取北半球蝗灾发生的时间与空间信息;将某一时间段的蝗灾发生地点,按照核密度方法估计蝗灾发生区域,得到北半球9个历史时期蝗灾分布100-km栅格数据集。数据集内容包括:公元1000年以前,公元1000–1200年、1200–1300年、1300–1500年、1500–1700年、1700–1850年、1850–1900年、1900–1950年、1950–2000年共9个时期的北半球蝗灾分布区域。数据为Equal earth投影,空间分辨率为100 km。该数据集存储为.tif格式,由18个数据文件组成,数据量为43.8 KB。

1 前言

蝗灾是由蝗虫引发的灾害。蝗虫是直翅目、蝗科昆虫,广泛分布于全世界的热带、温带的草原和沙漠地区。在一定环境条件下,蝗虫种群爆发及大范围迁移,啃食农作物、草原植被,引发严重的经济损失以致粮食短缺而发生饥荒。中国乃至世界范围内引发蝗灾的主要物种之一为飞蝗(Locusta migratoria),属直翅目(Orthoptera)、蝗总科(Acridoidea)斑翅蝗亚科(Oedipodinae)[1, 2]。另一类经常引起蝗灾的蝗虫为沙漠蝗(Schistocerca gregaria),主要分布在非洲、整个西亚,并延伸到南亚的部分地区[3, 4]。在北美,引发蝗灾的主要为洛基山黑蝗(Melanoplus spretus)、高原蝗(Dissosteira longipennis)[5, 6]。

蝗灾是一种国际性的灾害,是全世界共同面临的重大危害事件。在人类早期历史上,埃及、希伯来、古希腊和中国都有蝗灾的文字记载。《圣经》的“出埃及记”和“启示录”把蝗灾列为重大灾害。2020年,从非洲到南亚,沙漠蝗虫灾害侵袭全球多地,东非大规模肆虐,对几十万亩农田造成破坏,造成印度粮食减产30%50%。2003年,美国西部的内华达州、犹他州和爱达荷州暴发蝗灾,造成较大的经济损失。在我国历史上,蝗灾与旱灾、涝灾并称中国农业三大灾害。自古以来,中国蝗灾迭起,史料中有大量记载,多集中于河北、河南、山东三省[7]。18561858年,广东、江西、湖南、西藏及北方地区蝗虫为患。《清实录》记载:“飞蔽天日,塞窗堆户,室无隙地”,“蝗食苗殆尽,人有拥死者”。

蝗灾发生与蝗虫特征、气候、人类活动等诸多因素相关。因此,蝗灾的防控面临着巨大的挑战。通过蝗灾发生的历史分布来了解蝗灾发生的时空特征,是解析蝗灾发生因素的重要基础工作之一。目前,虽然我国学者在蝗灾发生的历史动态方面做了较多工作[7, 8],但这些研究往往局限于文字描述或仅有时间序列[9, 11];同时,其他国家的文献和数据较为零散,缺乏系统性整理。不仅如此,蝗灾发生可跨国、跨洲,是一种全球性灾害,局部地区的数据并不能反应全面的分布特征。因此,蝗灾发生的大尺度时空分布数据集具有重要的意义,有待进一步整理挖掘。

2 数据集元数据简介

《北半球9个历史时期蝗灾分布100-km栅格数据集》[12]的名称、作者、地理区域、数据年代、时间分辨率、空间分辨率、数据集组成、数据出版与共享服务平台、数据共享政策等信息见表1。

3 数据研发方法

3.1 数据来源

由于本研究旨在反应蝗灾发生在北半球的空间分布,所以本数据集的研制主要通过国内外历史文献中获取蝗灾发生的地理信息,进而绘制北半球不同时间段内蝗灾发生的空间分布。数据源分为国内与国外两个部分。我国拥用丰富的历史文献,其中记载了大量蝗灾信息。本研究中国区域主要依据《中国三千年气象记录总集》[14]提取蝗灾发生信息[15]。国外部分主要通过google scholar搜索相关英文文献,包括相关期刊文章、专著等(表2)。英文关键词包括locust plague、locust outbreak、locust swarming、locust disaster。一共收集国内外记录9,500余条。

3.2 蝗灾历史分布构建

本数据集基于历史记录,重点在于重建千年以来不同时段的蝗灾发生分布变化。通过匹配历史记录中的当代地点信息,获取蝗灾发生经纬度。蝗灾发生往往呈区域性和迁移性,且世界范围内蝗灾发生记录存在一定缺失。为了从长时间尺度上分析蝗灾发生区域的总体变化,本数据集将某一时间段(如公元1000–1200年)的蝗灾发生分布点按照核密度方法(kernel-density range estimation)估计蝗灾发生的区域,再以100 km×100 km的分辨率(equal earth投影)进行删格化,获得该时间段内有蝗灾发生的分布区域。时间断面为公元1000之前,公元1000–1200年、1200–1300年、1300–1500年、1500–1700年、1700–1850年、1850–1900年、1900–1950年、1950–2000年。数据集地图投影分Equal Earth和WGS-84两种。

4 数据结果与验证

从蝗灾发生的历史空间分布来看,近千年来北半球蝗灾发生主要集中在中纬度地区,这与蝗虫适宜分布区一致;从经度上看,蝗灾发生的记录主要集中在欧洲、非洲及中国(图1、图2)。从时间上来看,蝗灾记录主要集中在公元1400至1900年之间(图2)。近千年来中国的蝗灾记录最为完整,尤其在明清时期。

5 讨论和总结

历史上蝗灾发生分布的记录可能与国家社会发展状态、文字记载历史较为相关。具体表现为:欧美地区在1990年以后、中国在1950年以后,蝗虫发生很少成灾,记录大幅减

少;而非洲、美国、南亚在1700年以后才有较多记录;中亚地区的数据可能由于缺乏文字记载或地理原因,蝗灾发生的记录一直比较少。总体上,中国是蝗灾发生的历史重灾区,这与中国作为历史上的农业大国地位一致;同样,北美蝗灾农业发展时期蝗灾亦较严重。值得注意的是,得益于科学合理的防治措施,中国及北美的蝗灾已得到极为有效的控制。
