Zhushan tea in the low-to-medium mountains of the north subtropical zone
Zhushan County, located in the Qinling-Daba Mountains of northwestern Hubei Province, is situated in th e climatic transition zone between the north and the south. It boasts a thousand-year history of tea cultivation. Re search findings indicate that 59.38% of Zhushan's area is located in low mountains ranging from 500 to 1,000 meters, and 65% of the area has slopes mostly below 25 degrees. The region experiences an annual precipitation of 959 mm and an average annual temperature of 16 ℃, with daily average sunshine hours less than 6 hours except in July. Upon inspection, all indicators of tea garden soil and water quality meet national standards, and no pesticide residues were detected. Zhushan tea is characterized by high water extract, high soluble sugar, high amino acid content, selenium content, and unique aroma. Zhushan tea includes black tea and green tea. Specifically, Zhushan green tea is high in tea polyphenols and catechins; Zhushan black tea is high in theaflavins and polyester catechins. As of the end of 2024, the registered residence population of Zhushan was 440,000, with 200,000 being tea farmers. The comprehensive output value of Zhushan's tea industry has exceeded 7 billion yuan, accounting for more than half of the county's total GDP. The dataset of the case study on the protection and sustainable development of the low-to-medium mountain habitat in the northern subtropical zone of Zhushan tea includes: (1) case area range data; (2) natural geographical environment data (elevation classification data, slope classification data, climate data, soil data, water quality data, vegetation data); (3) population, economic, management, and cultural data; (4) tea quality and pesticide residue testing data; (5) photo data. The dataset is stored in .shp, .xlsx, .tif, .docx, and .jpg formats, consisting of 56 data files with a total data volume of 548 MB (compressed into one file of 153 MB).
