Abstract:

The South Moscos Islands is located in the Andaman Sea, southern of the Moscos Islands. There is only 16 km wide between the Island and the Tanintharyi Coast at its east. The South Moscos Islands belongs to the Dawei District of the Tanintharyi Region of Myanmar. Its geo-location is 13°46′24″N-13°56′43″N, 97°54′2″E-97°55′52″E. It is consisted of three islands (from north to south, Aek Bok Island, Hngettaik Kyun Island, and Auk Bok Island) and several small islets. Among them, the biggest one is the Aek Bok Island (9.6 km in north-south direction and 2.6 km in west-south direction), which is also the biggest island in the Moscos Islands. The area of the Aek Bok Island is 3.71 km², and the coastline is 31.52 km. The total area of the Islands is 19.25 km², and the coastline is 54.80 km. All islands are governed by the Burma Forest Department as the Moscos Islands Wildlife Sanctuary. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data formats with the data size of 304 KB (Compressed to 124 KB in two files).
