The South Sandwich Islands is part of the South Georgia and the South Sandwich

Islands[1]. It is located in the southern

Atlantic Ocean, southeast of South Georgia Group[2], with the geo-location is 56°16′44″S–

59°27′44″S, 27°36′26″W–26°16′8″W[3]

 (Figure 1, Figure 2).

There are 26 islands in the South Sandwich Islands, shaping like an arc, and the main islands from the north to south are: Zavodovski Island, Visokoi Island, Candlemas Island, Vindication Island, Saunders Island, Montagu Island, Bristol Island, Bellingshausen Island, Cook Island, and Thule Island. Among them, Montagu Island is the largest, with the area of 100.51 km2 and the shoreline of 45.28 km; the second largest one is Saunders Island whose area is 36.78 km2 and the coastline is 29.55 km. The total area of the South Sandwich Islands is 254.82 km2 and the coastline is 231.76 km (Table 1).

The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references, and its spatial vector data is from AN_I_shoreline_m_gg_2015shp.rar of the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset Based on Google Earth Images (2015)[4]. The dataset is consisted of 17 data files and archived in the .kmz and .shp[5] data formats with the data size of 1.72 MB (Compressed to 728 KB in two files).
